On the morning of September 14, 2026, the College of International Exchange and the Library jointly hosted in Lecture Hall No.2, Huixing Building, Yuehai Campus. As part of the orientation series for new students, this lecture themed “Retrieval and Utilization of Library Information Resources” was delivered by Teacher Peng Zhaoxia from the Library. Open to new international students and continuing students with relevant needs, the event was filled with a strong learning atmosphere.

At the beginning of the new semester, many international students are faced with the common challenge of quickly familiarizing themselves with campus academic resources and mastering literature retrieval skills. During the lecture, Ms. Peng Zhaoxia first introduced the locations and overall layout of the libraries at Shenzhen University’s Yuehai and Lihu Campuses. She then took the students on a "virtual tour" of various distinctive spaces in the library, showcasing thoughtful designs for different learning scenarios, including an aesthetic education space equipped with intelligent robots, scenic study seats, group discussion areas and quiet booths. Afterwards, Ms. Peng systematically explained the library’s study facilities, information resources and services, helping international students gain a holistic understanding of the library’s functions.

Addressing the practical operations of greatest concern to students, Ms. Peng elaborated on the distribution of printed library collections, procedures for borrowing, returning and renewing books, methods to search for and download electronic literature, and ways to access full-text resources. She also introduced commonly used databases. In addition, Ms. Peng specifically explained how to apply for the Report of Retrieval and Verification of Paper Inclusion and Citations, offering clear guidance for students engaged in research. The whole presentation was easy to follow yet detailed, closely catering to the actual academic needs of international students.

After the lecture, Ms. Peng patiently answered various questions raised by the students. Many participants commented that the lecture helped them turn their unfamiliarity with the library into familiarity. They had not only learned about the abundant collections and services, but also mastered basic methods for searching materials and using databases, which would greatly support their future studies at Shenzhen University.

Information literacy serves as an important cornerstone of academic growth. Leveraging the "Liuli Lecture Hall" platform, the College of International Exchange will continue to collaborate with on-campus departments such as the University Library to provide international students with more demand-oriented academic guidance and resource briefings. This will help students better integrate into campus life, improve their academic performance, and achieve fruitful learning outcomes at Shenzhen University.
