From September 10 to 11, 2026, the Opening Ceremony and Orientation  for International Students of the 2026 september intake was held at the Auditorium of Yuehai Campus, Shenzhen University. Nearly 900 new international students from all over the world gathered to attend this grand opening event specially for them.

Accompanied by Together as One, performed by the Shenzhen University International Choir, the ceremony officially kicked off. Professor Pan Yanchun, Secretary and Dean of the College of International Exchange, delivered an address to extend a warm welcome to the new international students. He encouraged the students to integrate into the Shenzhen University community as soon as possible, learn from and respect one another amid diverse cultures, cherish their time of study, gain knowledge and friendship, and embark on a fulfilling and unforgettable new journey in Shenzhen.

Subsequently, Zeng Sa, Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, gave the new students a detailed introduction to the history and overview of Shenzhen University. Covering the university’s founding journey, educational characteristics, and fruitful achievements in various fields of development, the presentation helped international freshmen gain a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the university, filling them with anticipation for their future study and life at Shenzhen University.

LEONTOVICH KSENIYA, a new student representative and master’s student in International Chinese Language Education at the College of International Exchange, delivered a speech. She shared that upon arriving in Shenzhen, she was immediately captivated by the city’s openness and vitality. She expressed her willingness to learn from fellow students of all nationalities, gain in-depth knowledge about China while mastering her academic studies, and make this overseas study experience an unforgettable journey of growth.

Police Officer Li Gang from the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of Nanshan Public Security Sub-bureau explained common issues concerning exit-entry administration, residence permits, and public security prevention through real case studies. He reminded students to understand and abide by the law, strengthen their legal awareness, and seek timely assistance when encountering problems, delivering a practical safety and rule-of-law lecture for the new students.

Before and after the ceremony, the college also arranged comprehensive orientation sessions tailored to new students’ needs for adaptation and growth. Teacher Liu Wei interpreted the university’s rules and regulations as well as safety codes; Teacher Li Fengling delivered a lecture on career planning for international students; Teacher Xiong Xiong explained accommodation management rules and insurance-related topics; Teacher Zhang Qianting introduced scholarship policies, information system operations, attendance requirements, mental health support and student society recruitment; Teacher Chai Shanshan went over training programmes and course selection guidelines; Teacher Zhang Haiting guided language students through placement tests.

There were also a variety of engaging interactive activities on site. Members of the Wushu Club invited new students onto the stage to get a first taste of martial arts movements, while the Q&A session offered timely support for students with questions. At the end of the event, senior students led the newcomers on a tour of the Yuehai Campus. They passed campus landmarks including the Library and Huixing Building. As they moved from one scenic spot to another, the new students experienced the distinctive spirit and profound cultural heritage of Shenzhen University.

The two-day event came to a successful close in a fulfilling and warm atmosphere. May all new international students stay united and forge ahead in pursuit of their dreams at Shenzhen University as they embark on their brand-new chapters here.
