Shenzhen University Students Shine on the "Speak Luohu" Stage - The Youthful Charm of Diverse Cultures Converging

On the afternoon of September 12th, the "Speak Luohu" Luohu District Foreign Language Talent Show, hosted by the Luohu District Foreign Affairs Bureau and co-organized by the Luohu District Education Bureau and the Guiyuan Sub-district Office, was successfully held at the Party-Mass Service Center of Jingtian 100. The event actively responded to the call of the "Shenzhen Citizens Speak Foreign Languages" campaign, highlighting "diversity and integration" and emphasizing that "citizens are the main characters", attracting citizens from different nationalities, ages and professional backgrounds to participate enthusiastically.

It is worth mentioning that in this competition, teachers and students from Shenzhen University actively participated. From the hosts to the contestants and even the judges, there were figures from Shenzhen University, fully demonstrating the internationalized style of talents from higher education institutions.

Kolotnitska Yuliia, a Ukrainian student from the School of Communication, won the championship of the foreign student group with her speech titled "Luohu is a Bridge", which depicted how Luohu connects the past and the present, the mainland and Hong Kong, and China and the world. Her speech was sincere and touching. She said, "Life in Luohu has made me feel the inclusiveness and warmth. I hope to let more people know the stories of this land through language."

Omair Gzouly, an Egyptian student from the College of International Exchange , shared the funny and embarrassing moments when he was learning Chinese in a humorous and witty way. His sincerity and wit won rounds of applause and he won the runner-up in the foreigner group.

Carmen Wong, a student from Malaysia, demonstrated composure and grace with her confident and profound understanding of cross-cultural communication. She emphasized that language learning is not only a tool for communication but also an important bridge for understanding cultures and fostering friendships.

In addition to the contestants, students from Shenzhen University also contributed their wisdom in the hosting segment. Pan Miaoyan from the School of Communication, serving as the host, delivered a smooth and confident bilingual presentation, ensuring the competition progressed smoothly and naturally, while also showcasing the internationalized demeanor of Shenzhen University students.

At the judging panel, teachers from Shenzhen University also added academic and professional depth to the competition. Chen Mo, a mentor for innovation and entrepreneurship at the International Exchange College of Shenzhen University, and Wu Wei, an assistant professor at the Institute of China's Overseas Interests of Shenzhen University, served as judges and provided professional comments on the contestants' performances.

Teacher Chen Mo concluded by saying that this "Speak Luohu" Foreign Language Talent Competition was not only a contest of language skills but also an exchange of hearts. She said, "The students from Shenzhen University have demonstrated the diversity of cultures and the infinite possibilities of communication through language. Whether it was the confident expressions on stage or the understanding and respect conveyed behind the scenes, all of these reflect the international vision and sense of responsibility of the new generation of young people.
