When the morning light of Liyuan swept across the smiling faces of teenagers from six countries, and the night lights of Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour reflected the camp flag they held together, the 2025 International Youth Greater Bay Area Research and Study Camp and Shenzhen University's "Liyuan Journey" Summer Camp came to a successful conclusion on August 16th. This 15-day research and study trip, starting from Shenzhen and connecting with Hong Kong, enabled international teenagers to understand the unique charm of the Greater Bay Area as a "new international exchange hub" through visits to science and technology laboratories, intangible cultural heritage workshops, corporate headquarters, and cultural landmarks.
Innovative Research and Study Tour: Feel the Global Innovation Pulse of the Greater Bay Area
At the first stop of the study tour, in the porcelain workshop of Guocer Yongfengyuan, the campers' fingertips brushed over 3D-printed celadon patterns - the collision of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology left them with their first impression of the "conservation and innovation" in the Greater Bay Area. At the headquarters of Tencent, the real-time interactive demonstration of big data made the abstract algorithms concrete, allowing the campers to intuitively feel the surging digital wave in the simulation interface. In the Nanhai Oils and Fats Golden Dragon Fish (Shenzhen) Experience Center, the full-process visualization of the intelligent production line enabled the campers to witness the intelligent upgrade of the traditional oil and grain industry.

In the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Computing Technology in the South District of Shenzhen University's Yuhai Campus, teenagers from various countries discussed with research teams the potential of AI in climate monitoring. In the new energy vehicle exhibition hall of BYD's headquarters, campers entered the carriages to experience the intelligent driving system and feel the temperature of environmental protection technology. The drone performance in Shenzhen Talent Park demonstrated the unique charm of the integration of technology and art. From traditional manufacturing to the digital economy, from university laboratories to enterprise R&D centers, the global collaboration network of "industry-university-research-application" in the Greater Bay Area became tangible and perceptible through the personal experiences of the teenagers.

Cultural Symbiosis: Building Bridges for International Dialogue between Tradition and Modernity
"Clasp fists, punch out - " On the martial arts experience class on August 4th, the movements of the members of Shenzhen University's martial arts team and the campers were in perfect unison. This cross-border "making friends through martial arts" later transformed into a wonderful performance at the closing ceremony, with the vigorous moves concealing the code of cultural resonance.

In the Chinese language class, greetings and expressions of gratitude in various languages interwove to create a unique classroom rhythm; in the paper-cutting workshop, the campers used their fingertips to cut out vivid Chinese window decorations; during the tea ceremony experience, the Japanese campers discovered the commonalities between "harmony, respect, purity and tranquility" and Chinese tea culture... Traditional culture is no longer just symbols in books, but has become a "third language" for mutual understanding among teenagers through hands-on practice and language communication.

The Shenzhen Museum and the exhibition "The Great Tide Rises in the Pearl River" enabled the campers to witness the development and transformation of Shenzhen into an international metropolis step by step. The modern art exhibition in the West Kowloon Cultural District of Hong Kong, on the other hand, showcases the contemporary expression of Eastern aesthetics. One ancient and one modern, one from Shenzhen and one from Hong Kong, the diverse coexistence of cultures is precisely the most vivid international calling card of the Greater Bay Area.

Youth Gathering: The Closing Ceremony Captures the Moment of Diverse Integration
On August 14th, at the Ben Yuan Lecture Hall, the closing ceremony served as a touching epilogue to this summer camp. As the camp's commemorative video flashed through the past two weeks' highlights - from the shy greetings at the ice-breaking party to the joyous group photos on Hong Kong's Avenue of Stars and at the Peak - the campers from Tokyo College sang "Friends". The Chinese lyrics "One word, a lifetime" brought thunderous applause from the entire audience.

The future of the Greater Bay Area belongs to the young people who can understand diverse cultures and embrace global challenges. The certificates presented at the end of the camp also hold unique gains for each participant: perhaps it's the first complete sentence written in Chinese class, or the contact information of a martial arts teammate, or the first Chinese paper-cutting they made by themselves, or the moment of their first golf swing... These fragmented yet precious memories are like the waves in the bay area's ocean, eventually merging into the vast river of youth's growth and international exchanges.

Bay Area Perspective: New Coordinates for Youth Growth from the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Linkage
From the light show at Shenzhen Talent Park to the night view of Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong, from the knowledge ocean of the three-dimensional library at Li Lake Campus of Shenzhen University, the scientific research exploration in the iGEM laboratory of the College of Life and Marine Sciences, the cutting-edge technology in the oral medicine laboratory to the dialogue across time and space of cultural relics in the Hong Kong Palace Museum - the study tour itinerary is like a delicate key, quietly opening up multiple windows for teenagers to understand the Greater Bay Area.

As the campers set off with their fully-packed bags, they took away not only the camp certificates and cultural handicrafts, but also a brand-new understanding of the Greater Bay Area: it is a source of scientific and technological achievements, a testing ground for cultural exchanges, and a shared platform for the growth of global teenagers. This "trip to Lichuan Garden" is precisely the Greater Bay Area's youthful invitation to the world - with an open attitude, it awaits more international youth to jointly paint the future.
