The development of computer technologies, especially information technology promotes larger-scale of applications popping up in the manufacturing field, furtherly pushes the new wave of intelligent manufacture the core of industrial revolution over the world. The development of intelligent systems and intelligent manufacturing has been listed as the main direction of promoting a combination of the information technology and the manufacturing technology as new emerging generation. Combining computer science and technology, automation, machinery, and other disciplines, a second-level discipline of "Intelligent Systems and Intelligent Manufacturing" is established in Shenzhen University under the first-level doctoral degree authorization point of the "Computer Science and Technology". The newly constructed "Intelligent Systems and Intelligent Manufacturing" focuses on deep collaboration amongst unmanned systems, intelligent control, industrial internet, computer vision, big data analysis and processing with advanced manufacturing technology, also with a conclusion of control theory and autonomous systems, intelligent testing and intelligent equipment, industrial internet and intelligent manufacturing. Compared with existing similar disciplines such as "pattern recognition and intelligent systems", More emphasis is placed on the deep integration of control science with engineering, computers, and advanced manufacturing, and promoting the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry through the application of emerging technologies in computer fields such as blockchain, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and metaverse.
