Long-term Offline Chinese Courses for 2021 Fall Semester

I. About the College

1. Shenzhen University has trained up to 20,000 international students so far.

2. The College of International Exchange (CIE) adopts a multicultural education and provides a variety of Chinese language and cultural training courses.

3. CIE boasts passionate faculty with extensive experience of teaching the Chinese language and has a strong reputation among students with a retention rate of over 80%.

4. The language courses and after-class practice offer students crucial insights to understand Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.

5. Shenzhen University has beautiful campuses, convenient transportation and excellent facilities.

II. Program Description

Program period

September 6th - December 31st, 2021 (The examination time will be set separately.)

Course schedule

Monday to Friday, 8:30-11:40am, 20 credit hours per week, a credit hour referring to 40 minutes of real-time classroom instruction

Main courses

Integrated Chinese, Chinese Speaking, Chinese Listening, Chinese Reading and Writing, Audiovisual Chinese, etc. depending on the course level


Elective Courses


Online courses: Beginner Communicative Chinese, Elementary Communicative Chinese, Mandarin Pronunciation, Intensive Training on Chinese Characters, Cantonese, Learn Chinese with Songs, Chinese corner

Offline courses: Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Painting, Chinese Tea Art, Tai Chi, etc.

Extracurricular activities

Shenzhen tour, International Cultural Festival, sports meeting, Chinese Poetry Recitation, Chinese Characters Competition, etc.

Faculty

The program boasts excellent faculty who have been engaged in the teaching of Mandarin Chinese as a foreign language for more than a decade. All faculty members have the International Chinese teacher certificate and most of them have the title of professor or are PhD-holders.

Other services

Help learners practice speaking Chinese in various types of sessions such as Chinese Corner

Certificate

Those who complete the required credit hours and pass the exam will receive a course completion certificate

Fees

Registration fee: RMB 200

Tuition fee: RMB 8800/semester

You are a complete beginner and have no prior knowledge of the Chinese language.

Beginner A Integrated Chinese

At the end of Beginner A, you can understand  Chinese pinyin and simple Chinese characters and master about 500 vocabulary words. You can use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases.

Beginner Class B

You have completed 100 credit hours in Chinese or have learned 100 Chinese words.

Beginner B Integrated Chinese

Beginner B aims to help you review Chinese pinyin and characters. At the end of this level, you can master about 500 words. You can better use familiar everyday expressions and basic phrases

Elementary Class A

You have completed 300 credit hours in Chinese or have learned 500 Chinese words

Elementary A Integrated Chinese

At the end of Elementary A, you can master about 1,000 vocabulary words and basic grammar. You can communicate in simple and routine tasks.

You have completed 360 credit hours in Chinese or have learned 1,000 Chinese words.

Elementary B Integrated Chinese

At the end of Elementary B, you can master about 1,300 vocabulary words and basic grammar. You can communicate simply and understand in familiar situations (scenarios).

Intermediate Class A

You have completed 600 credit hours in Chinese or have learned 1,600 Chinese words.

Intermediate A Integrated Chinese

At the end of Intermediate A, you can master about 1,800 words. You can interact with a degree of fluency. You can master certain reading and writing skills.

Intermediate Class B

You have completed 720 credit hours in Chinese or have learned 2,000 Chinese words.

Intermediate B Integrated Chinese

At the end of Intermediate B, you can master about 2,500 words. You can explain a viewpoint on a topical issue. You can have good reading and writing skills.

Advanced Class A

You have completed 1100 credit hours in Chinese or have learned 3,500 Chinese words.

Advanced Integrated Chinese

At the end of Advanced Class A, you can master about 4,000 words. You can explain an in-depth viewpoint on complex subjects. You can produce text of more than 400 characters.
