On the afternoon of September 23, the Mid-Autumn Festival cultural experience event themed "Full Moon over SZU, One World Under the Same Moon" was successfully held in Room 201A, 2nd Floor, Zhaoxi Building, by the College of International Exchange. Students from various countries gathered together to welcome the Mid-Autumn Festival through cultural presentations, intangible cultural heritage handicrafts, and food tasting, experiencing the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture.

At the beginning of the event, a presentation on Mid-Autumn Festival culture was delivered. The teacher introduced the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival, traditional customs, the symbolism of mooncakes, and lantern culture, helping international students gain a deeper understanding of the reunion, longing, and good wishes embodied in the festival. The international students listened attentively and interacted actively, showing great interest in Mid-Autumn Festival culture.

Then came the highlight of the event — the making of intangible cultural heritage bamboo-woven lanterns. Under the patient explanation and one-on-one guidance of a professional handicraft teacher, the international students learned the basic techniques of bamboo weaving and the steps for making lanterns. While working with their hands, they also tasted classic mooncakes. Amid the sweet aroma of mooncakes and the interweaving of bamboo strips at their fingertips, they immersed themselves in the joy of traditional craftsmanship. The atmosphere was warm and lively, with students helping each other, exchanging tips, and laughter filling the air.

After a period of skillful crafting, bamboo-woven lanterns with unique Mid-Autumn charm were completed one after another. Everyone eagerly held up the lanterns they had made with their own hands and posed for group photos, capturing this special Mid-Autumn memory. Some international students said that it was their first time making a bamboo-woven lantern by hand, which was both fun and unforgettable, and that they had felt the beauty and warmth of traditional Chinese culture.

This event integrated Mid-Autumn Festival culture, traditional handicrafts, food experiences, and cross-cultural exchange, offering international students an opportunity to immerse themselves in Chinese culture. By decorating bamboo-woven lanterns with their own hands, tasting mooncakes, and interacting with one another, the international students not only learned about the cultural connotations of the Mid-Autumn Festival but also experienced the unique charm of traditional Chinese handicrafts through hands-on practice. Many expressed that the event allowed them to feel the festive atmosphere of a Chinese holiday and the warmth of the campus in a foreign land, and that it deepened their love for Chinese culture.
