Management Science and Engineering

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

1. Major characteristics and advantages

Management Science and Engineering is the first-class discipline of Shenzhen University. It aims to solve the practical problems of management engineering such as intelligent decision-making, system engineering and logistics supply chain in the new era. Based on innovative thinking, it integrates disciplines such as management science, information science, financial technology and system science to explore scientific laws that reflect objective practice, so as to achieve the advantageous discipline of effective utilization of resources. This discipline owns five directions as follows,


Direction 1.  Intelligent optimization and Decision-Making

This direction focuses on the practical optimization and decision-making problems in the field of management science, and carry out research by using the methods of swarm intelligent computing, feature engineering technology, big data analysis and intelligent decision-making, so as to form characteristics in the aspects of big data and intelligent medical treatment, customer intelligent recommendation, intelligent innovation and etc.

Direction 2. Management System and Engineering

This direction pays attention to the academic frontier issues of management system and engineering, and carry out research by using mathematical and simulation modeling and optimization analysis, data-driven modeling and empirical analysis, so as to form characteristics in production and service scheduling, resource and environmental management, manufacturing and environmental engineering, etc.


Direction 3. Supply Chain and Logistics Engineering

This direction aiming at the academic problems in the theoretical methods of supply chain management and the practice of logistics engineering industry, the theoretical methods and industry application research are carried out by means of mathematical modeling, algorithm research, statistical measurement, policy analysis, questionnaire survey and so on. This research direction strives to be indomitable, achieve the combination of supply chain theory and method innovation and practical service in the logistics industry, pursue the innovation of supply chain theory and method, and pay attention to the solution of practical problems in the logistics industry.


Subdivision direction 1. Research on theories and methods of logistics and supply chain management, focus on academic research and integrated innovation of theoretical methods, and highlight the innovation and application of theories and methods in Green Sustainable Logistics and supply chain management, behavior operation management, digital products and sharing platform.


Subdivision direction 2. International maritime logistics and port shipping management. It combines with the actual needs of China's marine power strategy, the maritime integration of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay area and the construction of Shenzhen global marine center city. It engages in the research on sea related logistics supply chain issues, and carry out theoretical innovation and industry development research in the field of international maritime logistics and port shipping management.


Direction 4. Internet and Information Management

This direction adapts to the development trend of big data technology and Internet economy, adopt the empirical methods of big data analysis and questionnaire survey to study information dissemination and management in the context of the Internet, and form characteristics in online brand community social network, UGC user participation behavior, social recommendation system of scientific research experts, etc.


Direction 5. Financial Technology and Service Engineering

Financial technology has increasingly become the focus of global financial innovation and financial competition in the digital era, and it is also the strategic direction of the future development of the financial industry. Focusing on the interdisciplinary frontier of digital finance, artificial intelligence and management science. Facing the urgent practical requirements of preventing and resolving financial risks, this discipline explores the financial innovation and service mode driven by digital technology, the financial risk identification, monitoring and prevention methods driven by big data, and the integration mechanism innovation of financial technology and entrepreneurial finance. It forms characteristics in financial asset pricing and risk management, distributed business model innovation based on block chain, supply chain finance, service support in innovation and entrepreneurship, and provide intellectual support for the development of financial innovation and the construction of risk intelligent prevention and control system in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay district.


1. Training objectives

Based on the Great Bay area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and the socialist leading demonstration area that we cultivate high-level talents in the field of comprehensive management science and engineering with strong professional foundation, strong sense of innovation, wide application and high comprehensive quality, and integrate morality and talents into the "three complete" education construction project. By these objectives, we enable students to systematically learn the theories, methods and technologies of management science, and skillfully use relevant theories and methods to analyze and solve the problems of management decision-making and system engineering in reality. Professionals who can engage in management practice or teaching and scientific research in government organs, enterprises and institutions and colleges and universities.

1. Master the basic theory of Marxism, establish a scientific world outlook, adhere to the four basic principles, abide by discipline and law, have good moral character, have strong dedication and dedication, and actively serve the modernization of the motherland.

2. Have solid and broad basic theory and systematic and in-depth professional knowledge, and understand the research status and development objects of the discipline at home and abroad. Be able to engage in scientific research independently and have creative opinions or achievements in theory or application.

3. Master a foreign language, be able to skillfully use a foreign language to read the professional literature, and have certain writing ability and international academic communication ability. As a discipline integrating management and technology, theory and practice, the students trained in this discipline need to be trained and improved in the following aspects in the specific scientific research work to meet the following requirements,

(1) Academic norms: Students are able to follow academic norms in the process of research design and scientific experiments, have solid academic literacy, have a rigorous and pragmatic scientific spirit, ensure integrity in thesis writing, quote content norms, and eliminate plagiarism and plagiarism of others' views.

(2) Academic ethics: We adhere to the moral bottom line of scientific research, ensure that the research content meets the ethical requirements, and attach great importance to academic ethics.

(3) Research methodology: Students are required to master the research methodology of this discipline, be able to reasonably select relevant theories to explain the problems in management experiments, be good at refining scientific problems, and select reasonable methods to solve research problems.

(4) Technical and analytical skills: Students are required to skillfully use quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques, be able to comprehensively use information technology means to complete the intermediate processes such as analysis of research data and refinement of research ideas, and have solid and reliable academic basic ability.

(5) Critical thinking: Students are able to examine research issues from a systematic perspective, establish a stable logical chain in the process of scientific exploration, and be good at organizing research framework.

(6) Innovation ability: Students are required to have strong academic innovation ability, and be able to analyze and discuss from a new perspective for the forefront of management practice and theory.

(7) Communication skills: Students are required to charge the language skills of Chinese and English, they are able to clearly and methodically explain academic ideas, and understand the basic etiquette and skills of international academic exchanges.

(8) Writing ability: Students are be able to clarify ideas logically, clearly and accurately in written form, and be able to write Chinese and English academic papers independently.

Introduction

Dr. Ghaffar Ali is ranked among Top-2 % researchers of the world, a recent ranking by Stanford University, USA. He is working as Associate Professor at the College of Management, SZU, China. He is also serving as an Editor of two international Journals (PLOS One and PLOS Water). His research expertise includes Environmental economics; Environmental management & science; Climate change policy; Renewable energy policy; BRI; and Decarbonization action plans. Earlier, he has served various international institutions including the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), and United Nations - Thailand; the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China; University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Pakistan; and Mahidol University, Thailand. He is an experienced researcher with almost 10 years of experience in research and teaching. Furthermore, Dr. Ali is among 1% Top peer reviewers of the world as published by Web of Science (Publons). Till date, Dr. Ali has published over 60 research papers in leading journals, conferences, book, book chapters, and working paper(s). Introduction

Prof. Jianwu JIANG is Professor of Management at Shenzhen University. He was visiting scholar of the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania and University of Missouri at St. Louis. He is also a member of advisory committee of City University of Macau.

Prof. Jianwu JIANG earned his Ph.D.in the field of human resource management from the joint PhD program by Arizona State University, USA, and Nanjing University, China. He is a member of Academy of Management, and International Association of Chinese Management Research. He is serving as Editorial Review Board of International Journal of Human Resource Management, Current Psychology, Journal of Managerial Psychology, Chinese Journal of Management, etc.

Prof. Jianwu JIANG’s research interests focus on strategic human resource management, gig economy, employment relationship, and organization innovation. He has published over 40 articles in SSCI and Chinese-SSCI journals of management such as the International Journal of Human Resource Management, Current Psychology etc. One of his scholarly work"Does HRM facilitate employee creativity and organizational innovation? A study of Chinese firms"published in IJHRM in 2012 has accrued over 330 Google Scholar citations and over 120 Web of Science citations.

Introduction

 Professor Lin Xudong is the doctoral director, director of the professor committee of the college, member of the Teaching Steering Committee of E-Commerce major in undergraduate colleges and universities in Guangdong Province, the "Ten Thousand" Provincial Training Object in Guangdong Province, and Local High-Level Talents in Shenzhen. The main research fields include digital economy, data governance, financial technology, etc., focusing on the analysis of basic theoretical issues such as financial market, data pricing and platform supervision with big data and information technology. In recent years, he has presided over 3 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 1 national Soft Science Research Plan Project, 1 General humanities and Social Sciences project of the Ministry of education and 2 provincial soft science projects. He has published 1 academic monograph, published more than 50 academic theories in domestic and foreign academic journals, 16 SCI / SSCI searches and more than 20 CSSCI searches, and cited the results more than 800 times. Independently won one third prize for outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences of Guangdong Province, one second prize and one third prize for outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences of Shenzhen. Introduction

Prof. MA LIJUN is a Full professor at the College of Management. He serves as associate head of department of management science and director of E-commerce undergraduate program. He earned his Ph.D with specialty in Supply Chain Management from department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His specialty is within Supply Chain Logistics Management. He has published more than 100 papers including leading journal papers, conference proceedings. He has also published a monograph in the Springer Press. He has served as investigator and co-investigator for more than 20 grants including 7 grants from National Natural Science Foundation of China. His research network spans from North American, Asia, to Europe. He serves as associate editor for Modern Supply Chain Research and Application. He is a member of POMS, INFORMS. His current research interests lies in innovative operations in sharing economy. Introduction

  He is a PhD supervisor, professor and an outstanding scholar of Shenzhen University. Previously, he worked as a visiting scholar at the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom, Arizona State University in the United States, Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, postdoctoral fellow at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and postdoctoral fellow at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In recent years, he has won a number of academic honors, such as being selected as the second batch of "Hong Kong Scholars" in the mainland china, the "China-UK Innovation Leading Talents" of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the top 2% of the world's scientific influence in 2019. He had 6 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 4 projects supported by Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, 2 projects supported by China Postdoctoral Science Foundation (1 special funded), and more than 10 other provincial or municipal projects. His researches mainly include artificial intelligence, big data analysis, information systems and information management, operations research and optimization, logistics and supply chain management, smart medical and other multidisciplinary scientific research work. He had published more than 170 high quality papers, 9 research monographs or books, 7 patents and software copyrights, won over 20 outstanding paper awards or other various academic awards, such as the Best Paper Awards in the International Conference of Swarm Intelligence (ICSI), International Conference of Intelligent Computing (ICIC), and Management Conference of China.

Introduction

Professor Pan graduated from Beihang University with a PhD degree in Systems Engineering. As a visiting scholar, he conducted research in Georgia Institute of Technology and Indiana State University. Dr. Pan is the vice chairman of the Guangdong Society of Systems Engineering. As the PI, he obtained two national grants and five provincial grants. Dr. Pan published more than thirty articles on the international and Chinese academic journals including Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Omega, etc. His research interests are resource and environment management, logistics and supply chain management and medical and health management. Introduction

Dr. Qingyu Zhang is a Distinguished Professor of Pearl River Scholar and Director of the Institute of Business Analysis and Supply Chain Management at Shenzhen University. He is Microsoft Certified MCSD and MCSE, and also CFPIM fellow certified by American Operation Management Association. He is a member of the editorial review boards of Journal of Operations Management (JOM) and Transportation Research Part E. He is a principal investigator of the Key Project of NSSFC and the general project of NSFC, has published 5 books and more than 100 papers, and won the best paper award of JOM. His research interests include supply chain management, sustainable operation, social responsibility, and data analysis.

Introduction

Zhimin Zhou is a Professor of Marketing and the Associate Dean of College of Management at Shenzhen University, China. He obtained his PhD from Sun Yat-Sen University in 2003. He worked respectively as a Visiting Scholar at University of Southern California, USA in the past. He was honored with the New Century Excellent Talent in University by the Ministry of Education in China in 2013. His research interests focus on brand management, online community, etc. Four of his research projects are financially supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). He has published more than 100 pieces of paper on some prestigious journals, including Journal of Business Research, Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking, Internet ResearchJournal of Product & Brand ManagementJournal of Destination Marketing & Management, and some leading Chinese journals.

Jingbo Yuan received his doctorate in management from Wuhan University,He is currently working as an assistant professor in the school of management of Shenzhen University and is recognized as a high-level talent in Shenzhen. He once served as import and export specialist, business analyst and project manager of Huawei Company. At present, he has presided over a number of foundations, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Foundation of China, and the Humanities and Social Sciences Foundation of the Ministry of Education in China, etc. Relevant research results were published in SSCI journals or CSSCI journals, such as Management World”, China Industrial EconomicsNankai Business Review”, etc. His main research areas include: (1) Business ethics. Introduction

Zeng Xianju, Ph.D. (Xi'an Jiaotong University, 2008), Research Fellow (City University of Hong Kong, 2009); Director of Office of Academic Planning and Development, Shenzhen University, Professor of Management.

Research Interest: Management cognition, institutional evolution, strategic management, corporate governance, organizational change and leadership in the Chinese context. He has hosted 3 National Natural Science Foundation of China and more than 10 other research projects, published 60 papers in academic journals and academic conferences. He was selected as one of the "Shenzhen High-level Professional Talents" (2017), the 1st national "Excellent Case Study Teacher" (China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center, 2019), and the Deputy Secretary General of China Strategic Management Society. From 2009 to 2010, he worked in the General Office of China Sinochem Group.

He is currently working on the following projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China:

Dr. Geng obtained her Ph.D. degree at the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR. She was visiting scholar of College of Management, Bath University, UK. Her research interest includes intelligent recommendation system, optimization, data analytics, digital marketing, and technology enhanced learning. She is current PI of NSFC fund, Gaungdong Provincial fund, Postdoctoral Research Fellow fund, etc. Her papers (as 1st author or corresponding author) appear on International Journal of Intelligent Systems, Computers & Education, Computers in Human Behavior, Internet Research, British Journal of Education Technology, Project Management Journal, Industrial Management & Data Systems, etc. Her total citation number reaches 353 and one of her paper was cited 139 times. She also published 3 books and attended many international conferences. Introduction

I am an associate professor in College of Management, Shenzhen University. I have successively won some titles, such as the top young talents of scientific and technological innovation of Guangdong special support plan, high-level talents of Shenzhen City and outstanding scholars of Shenzhen University. My research focus on energy economics and environmental management, management decision-making and operations research, data-driven complex system modeling. I have published more than 60 papers in high-level academic journals. More than 50 publications are indexed by SSCI / SCI. These journal includes Environmental & Resource Economics, Ecological Economics, Energy Economics,   IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, Computers & Operations Research, Energy Policy and Applied Energy. I am a principal investigator of about ten projects, which include 3 National Natural Science Foundation of China and 2 the MOE (Ministry of Education in China) Project of Humanities and Social Science.

Introduction

  In the past five years, she focused on the study of intelligent optimization and management decision-making, had proposed a series of new optimization methods, and applied those new theories and methods to real-world applications. Her researches mainly include artificial intelligence, data mining, machine learning, customer classification, product recommendation, and medical aid diagnosis, etc. In related fields, she has completed two research monographs, and published more than 40 papers in high-quality journals such as International Journal of Intelligent Systems (SCI JCR Q1, IF= 10.312) , Swarm and Evolutionary Computation (SCI JCR Q1, IF=7.10, Knowledge-based Systems (SCI JCR Q1, IF=5.101), Neurocomputing (SCI JCR Q1,IF=4.072). In terms of academic achievement conversion, she designed and developed a new medical big data analysis and intelligent diagnosis platform based on swarm intelligence, which has been authorized the software copyright. Based on those achievements in medical diagnosis, she guided the students to participate in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions and won more than 20 awards.

Introduction

Tianwei Zhou received the B.S. degree from Tianjin University in 2014 and the Ph.D. degree from Tianjin University in 2019. She was a joint Ph.D. student with the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore from August 2017 to August 2018. She is currently an Assistant Professor with the College of Management, Shenzhen University. She has been recognized as “Overseas High-Caliber Personnel” in Shenzhen. Her current research interests include Swarm Intelligence, Flight Scheduling, Event-Driven Control, Networked Control Systems, and Image Processing. Now she has hosted or participated 7 national/provincial research projects, published more than 20 SCI/EI papers, including 8 regular papers as the first/corresponding author in TOP IEEE Trans. Introduction

Jihong Chen is Distinguished Professor at College of Management, Shenzhen University, Shenzhen, China, and the Dean of Shenzhen International Maritime Institute. His research expertise includes maritime supply chain and logistics management, port and shipping management, maritime management and policy. He has published more than 200 academic papers, including publications on Nature, Ocean & Coastal Management, Ocean Engineering, Annals of Operations Research, Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice, Transport Policy, Computers & Industrial Engineering, Journal of Navigation, Marine Policy, Journal of Environmental Management, Environmental Pollution and Marine Pollution Bulletin. Dr Xianghua Chu is currently an associate professor and distinguished researcher in College of Management, Big Data Intelligent Management and Decision Institute, Shenzhen University. He is one of the high-level professional in Shenzhen. He has hosted more than 30 national and provincial scientific research funding projects from National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Natural Science Foundation of the United States, Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, Mayo Medical Center and Shenzhen Government. He has published more than 50 international peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. His research directions include swarm intelligence, computational intelligence, meta-learning, data-driven modelling and decision making, and related applications in management and engineering fields. He is a reviewer of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and many international top journals. He is also a deputy director of the E-commerce Department of Shenzhen University.
