On the afternoon of June 25, 2025, 35 international students from various countries, organized by "Nourishing Hearts with Culture" Base and Studio of Education in China's National Conditions,Shenzhen University, visited the Shenzhen Energy Nanshan Eco-Park for a unique environmental technology tour. The activity aimed to provide the international students with an in-depth understanding of Shenzhen's innovative practices in waste-to-energy, circular economy, and carbon neutrality, allowing them to witness China's cutting-edge efforts in sustainable development.

Nanshan Eco-Park, a flagship project in Shenzhen’s "Zero-Waste City" initiative, processes 2,300 tons of waste daily and generates 450 million kWh of electricity annually—enough to power 100,000 households. It also reduces 220,000 tons of CO₂ emissions each year.

This visit allowed the international students to witness China’s breakthroughs in green technology and inspired them to consider how Shenzhen’s sustainable practices could be adapted in their home countries.

At the Circular Recycling Art Exhibition Hall, the students admired eco-artworks crafted from recycled materials like discarded plastic bottles and glass—including pieces such as the "Light Bulb Sculpture" and "Cardboard Elephant"—gaining a firsthand appreciation for the creative "waste-to-art" concept that transforms trash into treasure.

In the Central Control Room, students observed real-time monitoring screens showcasing how the park utilizes AI and big data to optimize waste-processing efficiency while ensuring emissions comply with strict EU environmental standards.

Finally, the students visited the Chimney Observation Deck, where they took in panoramic views of the Qianhai Free Trade Zone, Mawan Port, Mawan Power Plant, and the Lingding Ocean—a striking vantage point to observe Shenzhen’s integration of industry, trade, and coastal ecology.

This visit not only broadened the international students' horizons but also fostered greater global collaboration in green technology and sustainable development. Looking ahead, Shenzhen University plans to organize more such activities, enabling international students to deeply experience Shenzhen's unique blend of technological innovation and ecological wisdom.
