Introduction

 Academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Engineering Institute of Canada, and the Royal Society of Canada - Academy of Science; full-time distinguished professor in the College of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Shenzhen University. Main research areas: mobile computing, intelligent networking and artificial intelligence.

I was as a professor and research chair in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia in Canada. I had served as a Distinguished Speaker of IEEE ComSoc, and had served/is serving on the editorial board of many IEEE journals. I have published more than 1400 refereed academic papers, and have been recognized as a highly cited author by Clarivate Analytics since 2019. I have played a leading role in the organization of many international conferences. In recent years, I have undertaken a number of important scientific research projects, such as the "Pearl River talent plan" innovation and entrepreneurship team project, Canadian NSERC funded projects, etc.

Introduction

Prof. Shi got his first PhD in Mechanical Engineering from China, and his second PhD in Computer Science from UK. He has been appointed as a Distinguished Professor at Shenzhen University since 2016. Before that he served as an Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and Professor at Middlesex University in UK. Prof Shi’s current research is focused on image processing and artificial intelligence, with quite a number of publications in reputable journals such as IEEE TPAMI, IEEE TIP, IEEE TFS and top conferences such as CVPR, ICCV etc. In addition, Prof Shi has been principal investigators of many major projects funded by A*STAR Singapore, FP-7 EU, MOST and NSFC China.

Introduction

Prof. Yingying Zhu’s research interests are mainly in artificial intelligence, computer vision, multimedia big data mining. She is currently the executive vice director of Research Institute for Future Media Computing, College of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Shenzhen University. As a project leader, she has presided over several projects, such as National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province of China, etc. She has published nearly 50 papers in computer TOP conferences, international TOP journals, SCI journals, EI conferences, etc., 5 patents and 2 software copyrights. Her laboratory has excellent software and hardware environment (e.g., 16 Tesla V100 GPUs, etc.). Meanwhile, she has in-depth scientific cooperation with HUAWEI, PING AN TECHNOLOGY, DJI and other listed companies, and has strong project R&D experience and sufficient research funds.

Introduction

Xiaojun Chen received the bachelor's degree, master’s degree and doctorate from Harbin Institute of Technology. He has worked in the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) . He is now an Associate Professor in the College of Computer Science and Software, Shenzhen University. He has focused on data mining and machine learning over 10 years, and published more than 70 SCI/EI papers, including more than 30 CCF A and JCR ranked top 1 papers in  TKDE、IJCV/TIP/IJCAI/AAAI/SIGIR/ICCV/ICDE. His research interests include unsupervised/semi-supervised/weak-supervised learning and anomaly detection for multi-modal data. He served as reviewers/program chair for TPAMI/TNNLS/TKDE/TCYB/AAAI/IJCAI/WWW. He has developed many data mining systems and packages. He won the second prizes of Natural Science in both Guangdong Province and Shenzhen, due to the contribution in clustering.

Introduction

CHEN Jie received his Ph.D degree in AI from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2013. He received Dean's Graduate Research Excellence Award from NUS in 2013. He was a postdoctoral associate at Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART). He was a program committee member in IJCAI, AAAI, CVPR, RSS, and ICRA. He joined Shenzhen University as a research associate since 2018 and become an assistant professor since 2021. His research interests include trustworthy machine learning (i.e., interpretable, robust, privacy-preserving learning models), multi-agent system, and the applications in robotics/intelligent transportation system/intelligent healthcare system/AI-Driven Synthetic Biology.

Introduction

Jianmin Jiang received PhD from the University of Nottingham, UK, in 1994. From 1997 to 2001, he worked as a full professor of Computing at the University of Glamorgan, Wales, UK. In 2002, he joined the University of Bradford, UK, as a Chair Professor of Digital Media, and Director of Digital Media & Systems Research Institute. He worked at the University of Surrey, UK, as a full professor during 2010-2015 and a distinguished chair professor (1000-plan) at Tianjin University, China, during 2010-2013. He is currently a Distinguished Chair Professor and director of the Research Institute for Future Media Computing at the College of Computer Science & Software Engineering, Shenzhen University, China. He was a chartered engineer, fellow of IEE(IET), fellow of RSA, member of EPSRC College in the UK, and EU FP-6/7 evaluator. His research interests is primarily focused on deep learning applications in multimedia content understanding and analysis, brain perceived pattern recognition and intelligent image/video processing. He has published around 400 refereed research papers in international leading journals and conferences.

Introduction

Ming Zhong, Professor, executive dean of Graduate School of Shenzhen University. Lead the team to carry out work in artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing plus intelligence, recommendation system, software engineering, etc. Presided over the key project of National Natural Science Foundation of China "A Human-like Task Planning, Reasoning and Verification System", in addition 4 general projects, and maintained long-term close cooperation with Huawei in student training, scientific research and innovation. The achievements have won the first prize of "Wu Wenjun artificial intelligence science and Technology Award" in 2019, the first prize of science and technology of Guangdong Province in 2014 (ranking first), and the first prize of scientific and technological progress of China Institute of electronics in 2018 (ranking first).

Introduction

Linlin (Dylan) SHEN received the BSc and MEng degrees from Shanghai JiaoTong University, Shanghai, China, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Nottingham, Nottingham, UK. He was a Research Fellow with the University of Nottingham, working on MRI brain image processing. Prof. Shen is currently the “Pengcheng Scholar” Distinguished Professor at School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Shenzhen University, Shenzhen, China. He is also an Honorary professor at School of Computer Science, University of Nottingham, UK. He serves as the director of Computer Vision Institute, AI Research Center for Medical Image Analysis and Diagnosis and China-UK joint research lab for visual information processing. He also serves as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the IET journal of Cognitive Computation and Systems.

He is listed as the Most Cited Chinese Researchers by Elsevier, and listed in a ranking of the top 2% of scientists in the world by Stanford University. He received the Most Cited Paper Award from the journal of Image and Vision Computing. His cell classification algorithms were the winners of the International Contest on Pattern Recognition Techniques for Indirect Immunofluorescence Images held by ICIP 2013 and ICPR 2016.

Introduction

Kaishun Wu is currently a distinguished professor of Shenzhen University, director of Guangdong Wireless Big Data and Future Network Engineering Center, and the director of Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Wearable IoT Intelligent Sensing and Computing. He is also the founder of Shenzhen University Internet of Things Research Center, the Guangdong Natural Science Foundation Research Team and Guangdong's University Innovation Team's leader. As a Special Allowance Expert of the State Council, he has won the National May Day Labor Medal, selected into the National Ten Million Talent Project, Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding National Contributions, members of the British Society of Engineering and Technology, National Young Distinguished Experts, Exceptional Talents of the Ministry of Education in the New Century, etc.

He has published more than 100 papers in major international academic journals and conferences and authorized 87 Chinese invention patents and 6 American invention patents in recent years. He has won the Guangdong Dingying Science and Technology Award, the Guangdong Outstanding Inventor Award, the Fok Yingdong Young Teacher Award of the Ministry of Education, the Hong Kong Young Scientist Award, and the IEEE Institute of Communications Asia Pacific Outstanding Young Scholar Award.

The research results have won the Provincial and Ministerial first prize (the first completer) and the second prize (first completer) twice, and the best paper award of well-known international conferences six times.

Introduction

Philippe Fournier-Viger is distinguished professor and national talent. He published over 330 research papers and edited 4 books on data mining, machine learning, and applications. The papers have received more than 10,000 citations (H-Index >50). He is also the founder of the popular SPMF data mining library, offering more than 230 algorithms, cited in more than 1,000 papers. He is editor-in-chief of Data Science and Pattern Recognition and former associate editor-in-chief of Applied Intelligence (SCI, Q2. He published many papers in top journals/venues such as JMLR, TKDE, ICDM, ICDE, PAKDD, and TKDD, and he is keynote speakers for numerous conferences every year, in China and abroad, and received six best paper awards at international conferences.


Research directions: My team works mainly on the design of data mining algorithms and machine learning models to analyze complex data such as temporal data, graphs, and sequences. We are interested in finding insightful patterns in data and also tasks such as predictions. We also have some interest in bioinformatics. Introduction


Fei Chen is an associate professor of College of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Shenzhen University, China. He received a PhD degree in 2014 from Department of Computer Science and Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He visited the distributed system group at Vienna University of Technology in 2014; he also visited the database team of the Alibaba Group in 2013, and the state key laboratory of information security of the Chinese Academy of Science in 2009. Introduction

    Professor Li Jianqiang has been committed to the theoretical and technical research on robotics and intelligent systems, specifically, in the fields of collaborative perception, network collaboration, analysis and processing. He proposed the collaborative perception algorithm of multi-source heterogeneous data integration, dynamic scheduling & optimization of network segmentation method, and the model-based finite time switched hybrid system modeling and analysis framework. The methods can improve the ability of sensory processing, increase the network security transmission and computational efficiency, and reduce the modeling complexity. He was selected as the chief scientist of national key R & D projects, the national youth talent, the distinguished youth of Guangdong Province and the executive director of big data National Engineering Laboratory. He has been in charge of 1 national key R & D plan project, 1 national fund key project, 3 general youth projects. More than 200 papers have been published in recent five years, among them, there are 92 SCI indexed, 59 in the first district of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 1 science sub journal, 42 IEEE Transactions, 4652 citations by Google, 2729 citations by SCI, 9 high citations and 2 hot spots paper. 49 national patents (24 authorized) have been applied, and authorized ZTE, CGN and other companies. Moreover, after audit, the economic benefit exceeded 1.36 billion yuan. He also won the first prize of Wu Wenjun's Artificial Intelligence cientific and technological progress award, the second prize of Guangdong rovincial Scientific and technological progress award as the first accomplisher, and the first prize of Provincial Teaching Achievement Award for four times. He served as the editorial board of seven journals including IEEE Transactions, and has been selected into the list of the world's top scientists' lifelong influence by Stanford University.

Introduction

Professor JIANBIN QIN is a national young distinguished expert and a research scientist at the Shenzhen Institute of Computing Science. He graduated with a PhD from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He worked as a researcher at the University of Edinburgh database before returning to China. He has worked in the research and development departments of Baidu and Microsoft search engines and the knowledge graph department of Google. His main research direction is database theory, database system, similarity query, information retrieval, data management, etc. He was nominated for the best paper of ACM SIGMOD 2011 and was invited to draft ACM TODS, and was selected for the best piece of IEEE ICDE 2018 and draw IEEE TKDE. In addition, he has won the CISRO Best Paper Award and the DASFAA Best Student Paper Award. He put forward fundamental theories such as the general pigeon nest principle model (GPH) and pigeon ring principle (Pigeonring) for high-performance similarity query systems. In 2021, he was recognized as a high-level overseas talent (Category B) of Shenzhen "Peacock Project".

Introduction

Dr. Shunquan Tan is currently an Associate Professor with Shenzhen University, China. He is now the associate director of Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Media Security. He received the B.S. degree in computational mathematics and applied software and the Ph.D. degree in computer software and theory from Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China, in 2002 and 2007, respectively. He was a Visiting Scholar with New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ, USA, from 2005 to 2006.

His current research interests include Multimedia information security, steganography and steganalysis, digital media forensics, deep machine learning, pattern recognition, AI security, and IoT security. He has published more than 50 journal and conference proceeding papers.

Now he is IEEE Senior Member and Member of Digital Media Forensics and Security Professional Committee of China Society of Image and Graphics. He also serves as Associate Editor of EURASIP Journal on Information Security. He has received a number of research grants with more than 5 million RMB yuan totally as a principal or co-principal investigator.

Prof. Zhang is an Associate Professor at the College of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Shenzhen University. She is also an adjunct associate professor at Department of Computing and Decision Sciences, Lingnan University, Hong Kong. She received her PhD in Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2010 under the supervision of Prof. Lionel M. Ni. Her research interests span over big data analytics, mobile computing, Internet of Things. Her research works have been published in many international well-known journals and conferences, including IEEE transaction on Mobile Computing (TMC), IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems (TPDS), IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE ICDCS, IEEE PERCOM, IEEE Big Data. Her work has been widely cited by prestigious institutes such as Stanford University, McGill University, Tsinghua University. She is the PI of many research projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Shenzhen Peacock projects. She is the recipient of 2018 Ministry of Education of China 2nd Class Academic Research Outstanding Award in Nature Science, 2013 IBM Faculty Award, 2015 Shenzhen Peacock Talent Award and 2019 China Pacific Insurance Research Achievement Award.
