PROGRAM OVERVIEW

College of Civil and Transportation Engineering relies on the construction of teaching and research platforms such as provincial advantageous key disciplines, provincial key laboratories and provincial experimental teaching demonstration center. Through the continuous support of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, science fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, major international cooperation projects of NSFC, key projects, international science and technology cooperation projects of the Ministry of science and technology and many other major national projects, some professional directions have had a great impact at home and abroad. The college has become a leading training base for innovative composite talents in the field of coastal civil engineering with certain international influence.In recent 5 years, it has won a number of leading and widely used research achievements at home and abroad, including the second prize of national technical invention (twice).The college has strong teaching resources, including 3 academicians, 3 winners of the National Science Fund for distinguished young people, 1 member of the discipline Steering Committee of engineering management of the Ministry of housing and urban rural development, 1 winner of the National Science Fund for distinguished young people, 1 member of the construction engineering supervision and project management strategic development expert committee of the Ministry of housing and urban rural development, 46 doctoral supervisors,21 professors and 29 associate professors. More than 98% of the teachers have doctoral degrees. All the teachers are graduated from famous universities at home and abroad.

Introduction

Dr. Xiangsheng Chen has, a Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, been offered the position of Distinguished Professor by the board of Shenzhen University. And he is a famous expert in tunnelling and underground engineering, urban rail transit engineering, intelligent geotechnical engineering, geotechnical engineering under extreme conditions, artificial frozen soil mechanics and artificially ground freezing technology, shaft construction engineering, and ground move controlling.

Guan Minsheng

Introduction

Guan Minsheng, Ph.D., Distinguished Associate Research Fellow, Doctoral Supervisor, National Grade A Registered Structural Engineer and Shenzhen High-level Professional Talent.

He mainly engaged in research on the structural seismic resilience, theory and method of structural seismic design and mechanical properties of composite structures.

He has presided over and participated in several scientific research projects, such as the sub-projects of a major project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the general project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the open project of the State Key Laboratory, the project of Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, and the basic research project of the Shenzhen Science and Technology Plan.

He published more than 40 academic papers, applied for or was authorized 16 national patents, and applied for 1 international PCT patent as the first inventor. He also obtained 2 software copyrights. As principal completion person, he won the first prize in the Shenzhen Science and Technology Progress Award.

HUANG Zhenyu

Introduction

Dr Zhenyu HUANG is currently an Associate Professor working in the College of Civil and Transportation Engineering, Shenzhen University, P.R.China. He obtained his PhD from National University of Singapore (NUS) at 2015. His main research focus is on steel and concrete composite materials and structures with applications to high rise and large span structural systems covering offshore and building sectors.

He has published more than 50 papers in International journal and conference papers, and at present, he holds 20 Chinese patents. He is currently a council member of Chinese Steel and Concrete Composite Structure Association, a member of Guangdong Provincial Association of Prefabricated Construction, a member of American Concrete Institute (ACI Singapore Chapter) and has served as the reviewers for 20 peer reviewed International SCI journals.

He has secured more than 4.0 million external grants with two foreign talents programs to fund his research work in Shenzhen. The efforts of his work focus on the investigation into and development of sustainable metal-composite materials and technologies including ultra-lightweight and high strength cement composite structural systems subjected to extreme loads. Among his developments of concrete, a floatable lightweight cement composite (FLCC: compressive strength of 40-50MPa, direct tensile strain capacity of 8%) with strain hardening behavior and lightweight steel-concrete-steel (SCS) sandwich composites were developed for offshore and marine application and reported by an internationally renowned Southeast Asia media: The Straits Times in April 2016.

He received Best Composite Structures Paper Award in the 8th International Conference on Steel and Aluminium Structures (ICSAS 2016), Best Paper Award in the International Conference on Engineering Research and Practice for Steel Construction at 2018 (ICSC 2018). He achieved gold award and silver award in American Concrete Institute (ACI Singapore Chapter) concrete project competition in 2015 and 2016 based on the development of ultra-lightweight fiber reinforced cement composite for energy efficient construction and economic lightweight concrete for Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC) construction, respectively.

Introduction

Dr. Li Lixiao’s research interests include structural wind engineering, offshore wind power structures, and structural-functional integrated ordered metamaterials development. Dr. Li Lixiao is served as the deputy head of the Civil Engineering Department in the College of Civil and Transportation Engineering, Shenzhen University. Dr. Li has been awarded as Class C Overseas High-level Talent of Shenzhen (2016), Reserve level of Shenzhen High-level Talents (2016), Outstanding Graduate Tutor of Shenzhen University. Dr. Lixiao Li is now a member of International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering, member of International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures, member of Chinese Society of Mechanics, and Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering. As the project leader, he has presided over 2 General Projects and 1 Youth project of National Science Foundation of China, 1 special grant project and 1 general project of China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, 2 general projects of Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, 3 Shenzhen Basic Research Projects, and the accumulated scientific research fund reaches 6.7 million RMB. Dr. Li Lixiao has published more than 50 academic papers, including more than 40 papers indexed by ISI web of Science and Engineering Village database.

Dr. Pengda Li is currently an Assistant Professor at College of Civil Engineering, Shenzhen University. Shenzhen Overseas High-level Talents (Peacock Plan Talent C). He received a master’s degree from The University of Sheffield UK with distinguishing honor, and PhD degree from City University of Hong Kong, respectively. Prior to joining Shenzhen University, he was a Senior associate research fellow at CityU Shenzhen Research Institute. Dr. Li’s research interests are in reinforced concrete structures; composite structures; structural retrofitting and repairing; FRP reinforced concrete structures; Stress-strain behavior of confined concrete; Marine engineering with composite materials; Coastal structure durability. Dr. Pengda Li also has more than 5-years of industry working experience in structural engineering as a professional engineer in construction company and consulting firms.

Qingxia Liu (Chad)

Introduction

 Dr. Qingxia Liu (Chad) is the fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. He received dual Doctorate Degrees from China University of Mining and Technology, majored in mine environmental protection, and McGill University, majored in Mining, Metal and Material Engineering. He was a tenured professor at the University of Alberta in 2009 and the director of the Canadian Centre for Clean Carbon and Mineral Processing Technologies (C5MPT).

Professor Liu is a leading scholar in the mineral processing and surface engineering. He has participated in and led a number of projects in resource utilization, oil and mining and environmental protection, clean energy and new materials, and has achieved important research results. Professor Liu has published 190 academic papers, granted 27 U.S. patents and 20 Chinese patents, and has made outstanding achievements in transforming knowledge into practical applications.

Introduction

Yu-Fei is currently a Professor in College of Civil and Transportation Engineering, Shenzhen University.

He obtained his BSc in 1983 and MSc in 1986 from Zhejiang University, China. He received MEng from National University of Singapore in 1994 and completed his PhD in 2002 at the University of Adelaide, Australia. He has more than ten years of industry working experience in structural engineering as a professional engineer in consulting firms in China, Singapore and Australia and is a chartered professional engineer of New Zealand and Australia (FIEAust, CPEng, NER, MIPENZ). He worked in Shanghai Jiao Tong University from 1989 to 1992 as a lecturer, and Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at City University of Hong Kong (2004-2015). Prior to joining Shenzhen University, he was Professor in Infrastructure Engineering in the School of Engineering at RMIT University in Australia.

His research interests lie in the broad field of structural engineering, including concrete structures, structural design, composite structures, FRP structures and structural rehabilitation. Professor Wu has published more than 250 technical works, including 150 SCI indexed journal papers with an H index of 40 (Google Scholar) and 35 (ISI Web of Science). Professor Wu is the sole or 1st named inventor of six US patents and numerous new structural theories and technologies. He has received numerous research awards including the prestigious Moisseiff Award from American Society of Civil Engineers, National Science and Technology Progress Second Prize (twice), and ranking in the top list of global civil engineering scholars.

Introduction

UEDA Tamon is Distinguished Professor at College of Civil and Transportation Engineering, Shenzhen University and Professor Emeritus of Hokkaido University. He obtained his Doctor of Engineering from The University of Tokyo in 1982. His research interests are in concrete and hybrid structures, interventions, and life cycle management.  He has been appointed by Dalian University of Technology as Sea-Sky Scholar, Zhejiang University as Pao Yu-Kong Chair Professor, and Shenzhen University as Distinguished Visiting Professor, etc.  He has published over 270 peer-reviewed papers and over 50 invited papers at international conferences.  He has received various international and national awards on his research/professional achievements (The fib Medal of Merit, Thammasat Honorary Award, JSCE International Lifetime Contribution Award, and JSCE Yoshida Prize), and awards from international journals (Journal of Composites in Construction, Journal of Advanced Concrete Technology, Advances in Structural Engineering), and domestic journals (JSCE, JCI, JPCI).  He is Fellow and Technical Council Member of fib, Fellow and Advisory Committee Chair of IIFC, Chair of International Steering Committee of EASEC, Past President of ACF, Chair of ISO/TC71, Chief Advisor of AUN/SEED-Net, Member of The Engineering Academy of Japan (EAJ), President-Elect of JSCE, and Immediate Past Chairman of Association for Civil Engineering Technology of Hokkaido.

Introduction

Juying Li is currently a Distinguished Research Fellow at the Shenzhen University. She has carried out in-depth research works and obtained several innovative achievements on transfer, transformation, fate and environment effect of emerging contaminants. So far, she has achieved more than 70 high-quality research outputs in top-tier journals, such as Environmental Sciences & Technology,Water Research. Introduction

Clyde Zhengdao Li, a member of the Communist Party of China, D.E., Ph.D. Economics, Distinguished Research Fellow, Master's Supervisor, Doctoral Supervisor for International Students, Co-cultivation Doctoral Supervisor of the University of Western Sydney, Australia. His research interest mainly focus on zero carbon building, smart construction and prefabricated construction. He has presided over 20 national and provincial scientific research projects, including 1 General Project of National Natural Science Foundation of China,  1 Youth Project of National Natural Science Foundation of China, ,1 Subproject of the National Key Research and Development Project, 1 Humanities and Social Science Foundation Project of The Ministry of Education, 3 provincial funds projects, 5 municipal funds projects, 2 university -level projects and 6 technical service projects, the total funding amounted to 11.52 million Yuan. In recent years, he has published more than 70 SSCI/SCI/ Chinese Core academic papers, including 2 ESI highly cited papers,  the highest single SCI English paper cited 131 times, and highest single SCI Chinese paper cited 150 times. He has applied for 45 national patent and invention patents, obtained 22 authorized national utility model patents and 9 authorized software copyrights. As a project evaluation expert of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a project evaluation expert of the Humanities and Social Science of the Ministry of Education, a project evaluation expert of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, a reviewer of several international renowned academic journals and chief editor of the International Journal of Construction Management (ESCI) special issue "Intelligent Construction and Intelligent Building Operation and Maintenance".

Introduction

Yuan Fang, whom received her PhD degree from University of New South Wales, Australia in 2013, is a lecturer in Shenzhen University, school of civil engineering and transportation. She is also a member of the Materials and Structures Research Experimental Consortium, a member of the RILEM-SHE Self-Remediation Committee, and a member of the Youth Committee of the Solid Waste Branch of the Chinese Silicate Society. Being recognized as Shenzhen overseas high-caliber personnel (level-C), she focused her research on the synthesis of nano-materials, geopolymers and their applications, and 3D printing geopolymers. She also received national science foundation of China, Guangdong Provincial natural science foundation and Shenzhen municipal natural science foundation, amounting to 4.2 million RMB. She also published 26 SCI papers, of which 16 SCI papers were listed as the first or corresponding author (JCR Q1 or Q2), and been authorized 5 national invention patents.

Introduction

Dr ZHAN Baojian is currently an Assistant Professor in the College of Civil and Transportation Engineering of Shenzhen University, Overseas High-level Talent of Shenzhen (known as Peacock Plan Talents). He obtained his Ph.D from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2017. His main research interests focus on design and development of sustainable construction materials regarding the upcycling of industrial solid wastes, recycled aggregate concrete, CO2 sequestration of cement-based building materials. He has authored/coauthored more than 40 peer-reviewed journal papers with an H index of 23 (Google Scholar), 1 English book, and has been granted 2 Chinese patents. As the project leader, he has presided 1 General Program and 1 Young Scientists Fund of National Science Foundation of China, 1 General Program of Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, 1 Shenzhen High-level Talent Research Project. Introduction

Chengyu Hong, PhD, Asscoiate Professor, Associate Researcher, Director of Geotechnical and Underground Engineering Laboratory, Deputy Director of Intelligent Infrastructure Research Center, Deputy Director of Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Green, Efficient and Intelligent Construction of Underground Metro Station. He received master's degree from Harbin Institute of Technology, a doctorate degree from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, obtained Outstanding Young Teacher Award of Cai Guanshen Foundation. He as a principle supervisor obtained 4 National Natural Science Foundation of China and obtained 12 invention patents (authorized). He has published more than 90 papers, and the i10-Index and H-index are 37 and 20, respectively. The maximum citation of a single journal paper is 188 from google scholar and obtained a total of 21 authorized patents. His research interests include: (a) theoretical studies regarding interaction behavior between different types of fiber optic sensors and monitored substrates and structures; (b) geotechnical monitoring and the related data analytics (big data and deep learning); and (c) digital twin studies of subway stations under both construction and maintenance process.
