PROGRAM OVERVIEW

1. Major characteristics and advantages

Management Science and Engineering is the first-class discipline of Shenzhen University. It aims to solve the practical problems of management engineering such as intelligent decision-making, system engineering and logistics supply chain in the new era. Based on innovative thinking, it integrates disciplines such as management science, information science, financial technology and system science to explore scientific laws that reflect objective practice, so as to achieve the advantageous discipline of effective utilization of resources. This discipline owns five directions as follows,


Direction 1.  Intelligent optimization and Decision-Making

This direction focuses on the practical optimization and decision-making problems in the field of management science, and carry out research by using the methods of swarm intelligent computing, feature engineering technology, big data analysis and intelligent decision-making, so as to form characteristics in the aspects of big data and intelligent medical treatment, customer intelligent recommendation, intelligent innovation and etc.

Direction 2. Management System and Engineering

This direction pays attention to the academic frontier issues of management system and engineering, and carry out research by using mathematical and simulation modeling and optimization analysis, data-driven modeling and empirical analysis, so as to form characteristics in production and service scheduling, resource and environmental management, manufacturing and environmental engineering, etc.


Direction 3. Supply Chain and Logistics Engineering

This direction aiming at the academic problems in the theoretical methods of supply chain management and the practice of logistics engineering industry, the theoretical methods and industry application research are carried out by means of mathematical modeling, algorithm research, statistical measurement, policy analysis, questionnaire survey and so on. This research direction strives to be indomitable, achieve the combination of supply chain theory and method innovation and practical service in the logistics industry, pursue the innovation of supply chain theory and method, and pay attention to the solution of practical problems in the logistics industry.


Subdivision direction 1. Research on theories and methods of logistics and supply chain management, focus on academic research and integrated innovation of theoretical methods, and highlight the innovation and application of theories and methods in Green Sustainable Logistics and supply chain management, behavior operation management, digital products and sharing platform.


Subdivision direction 2. International maritime logistics and port shipping management. It combines with the actual needs of China's marine power strategy, the maritime integration of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay area and the construction of Shenzhen global marine center city. It engages in the research on sea related logistics supply chain issues, and carry out theoretical innovation and industry development research in the field of international maritime logistics and port shipping management.


Direction 4. Internet and Information Management

This direction adapts to the development trend of big data technology and Internet economy, adopt the empirical methods of big data analysis and questionnaire survey to study information dissemination and management in the context of the Internet, and form characteristics in online brand community social network, UGC user participation behavior, social recommendation system of scientific research experts, etc.


Direction 5. Financial Technology and Service Engineering

Financial technology has increasingly become the focus of global financial innovation and financial competition in the digital era, and it is also the strategic direction of the future development of the financial industry. Focusing on the interdisciplinary frontier of digital finance, artificial intelligence and management science. Facing the urgent practical requirements of preventing and resolving financial risks, this discipline explores the financial innovation and service mode driven by digital technology, the financial risk identification, monitoring and prevention methods driven by big data, and the integration mechanism innovation of financial technology and entrepreneurial finance. It forms characteristics in financial asset pricing and risk management, distributed business model innovation based on block chain, supply chain finance, service support in innovation and entrepreneurship, and provide intellectual support for the development of financial innovation and the construction of risk intelligent prevention and control system in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay district.


1. Training objectives

Based on the Great Bay area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and the socialist leading demonstration area that we cultivate high-level talents in the field of comprehensive management science and engineering with strong professional foundation, strong sense of innovation, wide application and high comprehensive quality, and integrate morality and talents into the "three complete" education construction project. 0803Z2 Optomechatronics Engineering and Application

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The target of this program is to educate high-level professionals with independent research and teaching abilities in the field of “optomechatronics engineering and application”. The program also includes some organizational and managerial skill training.

In the field of optomechatronics engineering, the doctoral students have to understand the basic concept and in-depth professional knowledge, paper writing and communication capabilities. Language requirement should meet 3rd level of SAT before applying the program.

In the program, researches is a comprehensive discipline covering optics, mechanical engineering, control engineering, renewable engineering, physical chemistry, micro-nano maufacturing technology, material science,etc. The program is aiming to address scientific problems on optomechatronics engineering and application, focusing on new design, manufacture on optiomechatronics and new theories and technologies on control science. Four different research areas in the program are nano-surface and optomechatronics, photoelectric sensing detection and smart grid control, amorphous alloy material and applied technology, optoelectromechanical control and intelligent robot.

The education for doctoral students adopts doctoral supervisor responsibility system combined with collective education, which the actual supervisor is the main responsible person, providing doctoral students with comprehensive specific guidance. Also, the program contains both theoretical learning and scientific researches.

Optomechatronics engineering and application is one of popular comprehensive disciplines in scientific research field, being a significant role in the development of integral and precision optoelectronic devices. The doctoral program has in total 15 international doctoral supervisors, including 3 distinguished professors, 5 professors, 6 associate professors, 1 associate research fellow. All of the supervisors have oversea research background and own well-known reputation in their specific research fields.

The doctoral program has a total number over 50 projects on national and provincial level scientific projects within 5 years, and published over 100 SCI research articles. So far there are 20 doctoral students and over 10 post doctorates in the program. 建筑学Architecture

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Founded in 1983, the Division of Architecture is the core major among SAUP. It passed the National Architecture Education Accreditation and provided an undergraduate program in 1996. In the same year, it received the honor to recruit and conduct a graduate program of architecture design and theory. The Department obtained the first-level master's degree program of architecture in 2011 and a first-level doctoral degree program of architecture in 2018. The postdoctoral research station was also established in 2019. The Division of Architecture was selected as a national top-level undergraduate major in 2019. It was also conferred the title of national-level specialty and "Famous Brand Program of Guangdong Province." It has a gourp of eminent scholars such as Meng Jianmin, Fan Yue, Rao Xiaojun, Gong Weimin, He Chuan, Yuan Lei. Chen Jiawei is the current Head of the Department.

After the continuous cultivation for nearly 40 years, SAUP has become an influential and emergent architecture school in Southern China. SAUP has built a "Trinity" pedagogical system of human settlements and built environment, with the coordination of urban informatics research. The research platform of architecture division is led by the Guangdong Province and Shenzhen Key Laboratory,and a series of research teams with clear research directions and reasonable academic teams have been formed around the Benyuan Design Research Center led by Academician Jianmin Meng and the Smart City Research Institute led by Academician Renzhong Guo. The research platform covers various levels and secondary disciplines, which is conducive to interdisciplinary academic research.

Eligibility

Cultivating mode:

The training of doctoral students is implementing the doctoral supervisor responsibility system, and combines with the collective training method. School uses a method of combining courseware and scientific research, and emphasis on scientific research. The doctoral supervisor is responsible for formulating the personal research plan and implementing the plan during the study process.


Research directions: There are three research directions include urban survey engineering, urban remote sensing, and urban modeling and analysis.

1. Urban Survey engineering: research on urban surveying theories and methods, precision engineering survey technology and equipment, and its application on complex built environment in urban ground and underground. The research contents include: 1) Indoor and outdoor Integral locating and navigation. Integrate multiple locating technologies such as satellites, communications, inertial navigation, and vision to study the theories and methods of indoor mapping and integral locating and navigation in architectural spaces. 2) Urban underground engineering and pipeline survey. The technology and methods of study urban underground space, underground engineering and pipeline precision measurement and state perception. 3) Safety monitoring of urban buildings and infrastructure. Research on multi-sensor integrated measurement and monitoring, which based on study of platforms like unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned vehicles, robots, backpacks, and capsules.

2. Urban Remote Sensing: explore the theories, technologies and methods of multi-source remote sensing technology in urban construction elements, natural resources, ecological environment monitoring, and disaster early warning. The research content includes: 1) Urban multi-source remote sensing data fusion and information extraction. Research theories, techniques and methods of optical, thermal infrared, SAR, LIDAR and other multi-source data fusion and information extraction. 2) Urban resource monitoring and environmental perception. Research on the monitoring and sensing technologies and methods of urban built elements (buildings, infrastructure, etc.) and its resources and environment (vegetation, soil, water, atmosphere, etc.). 3) Urban ecological environment assessment and disaster early warning. Based on remote sensing and spatial information technology, research on urban human settlement ecological environment assessment methods and urban disasters (floods, landslides, ground subsidence, etc.) early warning technologies.

3. Urban modelling and analysis: Research on theories evolution and methods of complex urban systems in time and space, and use space as a carrier to integrate urban multi-source information modeling and analysis methods. 1) Three-dimensional (3D) modeling and visualization of urban space. Research on theories and methods of 3D modeling and visualization of urban ground and underground spaces and buildings, which based on multi-source perception methods. 2) Big data analysis and discovering of urban spatial-temporal. Research on the theories and methods of spatial-temporal big data fusion, analysis and discovering for urban human settlements, social and cultural issues. 3) Urban space optimization and intelligent decision. Research on theories and methods of intelligent decision for urban land use arrangement, infrastructure optimization, function coordination, operational services and other urban spatial planning.

The Theoretical Economics Program at Shenzhen University (SZU) is based on the China Center for Special Economic Zone Research (CCSEZR) of SZU, a key research institute of humanities and social science designated by the National Ministry of Education (MOE). It is the only institute specialized in the study of special economic zones (SEZs) among the MOE-listed key research institutions of humanities and social science and also the only think-tank focusing on SEZ issues in China. It is an academic center for the study of special economic zones in Chinese universities.

With the key base of the Ministry of Education as the main support unit, the discipline combines the academic backbone of the School of Economics and related schools at home and abroad to form a disciplinary team with reasonable structure, complementary disciplines, academic openness and research potentials. This discipline is characterized by the study of theories and practices of special economic zones, with the study of Chinese paths and the theoretical system of political economics with Chinese characteristics as an important research direction, and with the history of China's reform and opening up, the ideological history of China's reform and opening up, the development history of Special economic zones, and the comparative study of Special economic zones at home and abroad as the "traditional" disciplines, and with modern industrial structure theory, sustainable development theory and the theory of digital economy, digital finance and other frontier theories as subject growth point. While studying the theory of socialist market economy and the theoretical system of Chinese political economics, and exploring the general laws of modern economic theory, the traditional theory has been endowed with distinct "characteristics of the times" and "Chinese characteristics" by the practice of China's deepening reform.

This discipline follows the concept of respecting personality, teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, encouraging innovative and open development, and aims to cultivate talents with solid basic economic theories and skills, a systematic grasp of Marxist economic theories, comprehensive knowledge, reasonable structure, international vision, strong innovation ability and empirical research ability.The training objectives are as follows:

a.Master the basic theoretical system of the discipline, systematically study Marxist political economics theory, and systematically understand Chinese and Western economic theories and cutting-edge thoughts; Master economics research methods, cultivate independent research ability and study; Master a foreign language (including Chinese for foreign students from non-native countries), have the required listening and speaking ability for professional study, and can skillfully use foreign language to read the professional literature and write abstract of the paper. This PhD program in Biology is led by Professor Wei-Guo Zhu, Dean of the Shenzhen University School of Medicine. This cross-disciplinary program will ensure that students are familiar with scientific frontiers in the life sciences, and gain theoretical knowledge, professional experience in biological techniques used in the research laboratory setting and science-based critical thinking. Graduates of this program will have the ability to undertake independent research and work creatively in the field of biomedical science.

Main research fields:

1.Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Students will study the structure and function of biological macromolecules such as nucleic acids and proteins; explore the biochemical basis and regulatory mechanisms of cell metabolism and homeostasis; and make scientific breakthroughs in the fields of genomic homeostasis, the molecular mechanisms of autophagy, and the pathogenic mechanisms and early diagnosis of major diseases. The mentors in this subprogram have made many breakthroughs in above-mentioned areas and thus are internationally competitive and renowned.

2.Cancer Biology

Students will focus on the biological basis of DNA replication, DNA damage repair, cancer chemoradiotherapy and immunotherapy, and the molecular mechanisms underlying the tumor microenvironment regulating pancreatic cancer metastasis; interpret the molecular mechanisms of maintaining genomic stability; explore new carcinogenic mechanisms and cancer therapeutic targets; and develop new anticancer lead compounds. College of Civil and Transportation Engineering relies on the construction of teaching and research platforms such as provincial advantageous key disciplines, provincial key laboratories and provincial experimental teaching demonstration center. Through the continuous support of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, science fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, major international cooperation projects of NSFC, key projects, international science and technology cooperation projects of the Ministry of science and technology and many other major national projects, some professional directions have had a great impact at home and abroad. The college has become a leading training base for innovative composite talents in the field of coastal civil engineering with certain international influence.In recent 5 years, it has won a number of leading and widely used research achievements at home and abroad, including the second prize of national technical invention (twice).The college has strong teaching resources, including 3 academicians, 3 winners of the National Science Fund for distinguished young people, 1 member of the discipline Steering Committee of engineering management of the Ministry of housing and urban rural development, 1 winner of the National Science Fund for distinguished young people, 1 member of the construction engineering supervision and project management strategic development expert committee of the Ministry of housing and urban rural development, 46 doctoral supervisors,21 professors and 29 associate professors. Shenzhen University's optical engineering discipline was approved as a doctoral authorization point in 2006, and a post-doctoral mobile station was established in 2007, forming a complete talent training system for undergraduate, master, doctoral and postdoctoral.

The optical engineering discipline of Shenzhen University closely focuses on the needs of major national projects and the development of the optoelectronic industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, forming the following five disciplines: 1. Intelligent optical measurement and imaging technology: exploring advanced optical measurement, imaging, perception, and information processing technologies , To develop new intelligent optical measuring instruments to serve intelligent manufacturing, major projects, national defense and major national strategies. 2. Biomedical optics and photonics: mainly focus on the optical methods and means required by life sciences and biomedicine to develop biomedical optical detection, imaging, diagnosis and treatment methods and technologies. 3. Fiber optic sensing and laser technology: Fiber optic sensing and laser technology: Carry out theoretical and experimental research on fiber optic sensing and laser technology, and develop a new generation of fiber optic sensors and laser systems. 4. Shenzhen University was authorized to award doctoral degrees in optical engineering in 2006 and establlished the first post-doctoral station of optical engineering in Southern China in 2007.The discipline of optical engineering was selected as a key discipline of Guangdong Province in 2012. This PhD program in Biology is led by Professor Wei-Guo Zhu, Dean of the Shenzhen University School of Medicine. This cross-disciplinary program will ensure that students are familiar with scientific frontiers in the life sciences, and gain theoretical knowledge, professional experience in biological techniques used in the research laboratory setting and science-based critical thinking. Graduates of this program will have the ability to undertake independent research and work creatively in the field of biomedical science.

3.Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Students will study the structure and function of biological macromolecules such as nucleic acids and proteins; explore the biochemical basis and regulatory mechanisms of cell metabolism and homeostasis; and make scientific breakthroughs in the fields of genomic homeostasis, the molecular mechanisms of autophagy, and the pathogenic mechanisms and early diagnosis of major diseases. The mentors in this subprogram have made many breakthroughs in above-mentioned areas and thus are internationally competitive and renowned.

4.Cancer Biology

Students will focus on the biological basis of DNA replication, DNA damage repair, cancer chemoradiotherapy and immunotherapy, and the molecular mechanisms underlying the tumor microenvironment regulating pancreatic cancer metastasis; interpret the molecular mechanisms of maintaining genomic stability; explore new carcinogenic mechanisms and cancer therapeutic targets; and develop new anticancer lead compounds. PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This program will equip students with solid theoretical and systematic professional knowledge in molecular medicine, biomedical engineering, and related fields. Graduates of this program will have the opportunity to undertake independent scientific research, allowing them to understand the current status and future trends of medicine/biomedical engineering, and write and communicate in English.

MAIN RESEARCH FIELDS:

1.Biomedical information

Apply biomedical engineering techniques and methods to collect, analyze and evaluate health-related biomedical information, establish disease risk prediction and early warning models, explore the underlying reasons of disease pathogenesis, and conduct intervention studies.

2.Cell and tissue engineering

Conduct research on various types of stem cell and bioscaffold materials, and learn how to apply tissue engineering and regeneration technologies to acute and chronic injuries and diseases; conduct research using cell engineering and nanomaterial labeling technologies based on modern gene technology; perform in vivo and in vitro cell tracing and monitoring; and develop new sources of stem cells for research and industrialization amplification technologies, including the development of 3D culture and amplification and bioreactor systems.


3.Systematic Biomedical:

Harness biophysical, biochemical, bioinformatic and systems biology approaches to study human aging and major diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, metabolic diseases, and infectious diseases; use cells, tissues, organs to conduct translational medicine research into human disease mechanisms at multiple levels, and develop personalized and precise diagnostic and treatment approaches.

There is a wide spectrum of career paths that can follow from obtaining a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, including but not limited to:

Biomedical Scientist/Researcher Biomedical scientists and researchers, in both clinical and/or research environments, conduct research that aims to improve human health by carrying out scientific tests to find solutions to medical/clinical problems. They research information that aids in the development of biomedical technology and test products so that they are safe and effective for consumers.

Biomaterials Developer Biomedical engineers may develop biomaterials based on either natural living tissue or artificial materials, for use in the human body. Tissue engineering, biomedical implant development, drug delivery and nano implants are all areas that a biomaterials developer may work in. Biomaterials can be used to either repair or replace lost function to the body, or to detect and image disease.

Biomedical Artificial Intelligent (AI) Researcher or Developer AI technology is rewiring many parts of society. How medical/clinical procedures and philosophies will be affected by AI is a thrilling frontier for exploration. A career in this field will involve you not only in science and technology, but also in areas of ethics, finance, and regulation.

Rehabilitation Engineer Biomedical engineers who work in a field dedicated to rehabilitation often work on diverse projects. These can range from mechanical equipment that helps patients regain the ability to walk, to virtual reality systems that aid in limb mobility. Rehabilitation engineers may also create custom solutions based on unique needs or research improvements that can form the basis of a novel rehabilitation technology.

Medical Device/Technology Developer

Medical technology can refer to the hardware and software that help manufacture medical devices, as well as to the technology that is an integral part of those devices. Medical technology professionals with biomedical engineering backgrounds may specialize in bioinstrumentation, or the use of bioelectronic/biomechanical/biochemical instruments to record or transmit physiological information in vivo and/or in vitro.
